The EHS English Pathway

The English Pathway at EHS challenges students to demonstrate excellence in writing for a purpose and critical reading. While at EHS, English Pathway students will be required to complete two or more at of the honors/AP courses, and maintain a “B” average throughout these courses. Students accomplishing these will be granted an EHS English Department Pathway completion note on student transcript, a certificate of completion, and a Graduation Cord to be worn during the ceremony.

EHS English students have consistent leadership involvement in at least one of the following: Yearbook, BARK, Media Club, or running school-wide contests/fairs (e.g. PTSA Reflections, CATE Writing Contest, Poetry Out Loud, Academic Fair, etc.)

Finally, the English Pathway requires students to meet A-G requirements.
Required CoursesSenior Project  Awards and Opportunities
The student must take the following courses, including at least two of three honors/AP options; and maintain a "B" average throughout these courses:
  • Freshmen CP English
  • Sophomore CP English or Sophomore Honors English
  • Junior English or AP Language & Composition
  • Two semesters of Senior English or AP Literature & Composition
Required Activities:
All English Pathway Students must have consistent leadership involvement in at least one of the following: Yearbook, BARK, Media Club, or running school-wide contests/fairs (e.g. PTSA Reflections, CATE Writing Contest, Poetry Out Loud, Academic Fair, etc.)


Students must also complete a Senior Project before graduation.
